Here is my experience. I attended interview at Chennai Consulate on 06/23/08 (H1 approval notice - 2006). Got my passport back in 2 days. No PIMS delay as my info was already in their system. My daughter (H4 approval notice - 2006 and principal applicant is my husband) attended the interview on the same day. However, her info was not available in PIMS. They kept the passport and said it will be sent within a week. I sent an email (to ChennaiNIV@state.gov) on 07/02. They sent a reply asking me to contact them again in 3 days. By God's grace, she received her stamped passport on 07/04.
Now, answers to your questions:
Chennai appointments slots are normally open 3-4 weeks in advance. Make an appointment accordingly.
I think the info is added to PIMS on a routine basis. Making an appointment does not seem to have any effect. If, on the day of your interview, your info is there in PIMS, it is there. Otherwise, you will have to wait till the time they add it.

I am not aware of any specific way to make them add your info to PIMS (if it is already not there) before you actually attend the interview.
We have always followed one very successful strategy in all our visa dealings with US consulate namely, PRAY TO GOD.

I took infopass to clarify my situation with 2 I-485, different A#, and one I-140.
The IO verified and told me that both Apps have been merged and keying in either A# has brought back both Appslications. There was a LUD few weeks before I took infopass. I think it may have been because of merge.

As far as I remember , there was an FAQ somewhere in USCIS website that mentioned that they will not ask for 2nd FP again. I may be wrong but I think I had seen it somewhere and this also discussed in some thread on this site.

Hi everyone,
Today i got an alert form USCIS that the pending 485s (for my wife and myself) have been transferred from NSC to TSC. Wanted to see if others with 485s pending at NSC have seen similar action.
My priority date is Oct 2005 and my 485 has been pending at NSC since July 2007.
Since TSC is almost current in processing I-485 applications, it could be that NSC might be transferring some applications to lower their I-485 pending case load.

Found that someone with Aug 2002 PD got approved on June 1 whose I485 Receipt date was May 2003.
I guess USCIS does not go by PD to select who should be adjucated first but by what date the I485 was received. They are really ingenious and creative in finding ways to be inefficient and unjust.

As Per my knowledge it is not nessesary that all approved I140's will have a A#.
Senior members please correct me if i am wrong. Also i would appreciate if you can explain what is the criteria to get a A# in case of approved I140.

Not sure where you attained your knowledge about all 140 will have A#, but couldn't think that's possible because 140 is where your identity is critical and giving a number at that time is more appropiate than the later stages. I'm not an expert on this subject but trying to use my common sense , which is highly relative though it's common ;)

YOU: If thats a valid visa until 2009 you can travel without AP. Else, you can travel but will need H1 stamped.
YOUR WIFE: If she needs H4 stamped, she can get that done and re-enter.
If your travels are not urgent you could wait for AP and save couple hundred bucks!
But dont you need to wait for AP approval to travel if you are in AdjustmentOfStatus Phase?

I was reading through a thread here where someone said that since LC substition will be banned soon and 140 will have to be applied within 45 days of labor approval else LC becomes invalid, so it would not be possible to transfer the priority date of a old LC which has I140 approved to a new LC that could be filed in another category since it would be more than 45 days since the old LC was approved. Is this true, if yes, this is the final blow to those apirants in Eb3 aspiring to transfer PD by reapplying in Perm Eb2 and transferring PD based on approved I140. Please respond with comments. Need advise from someone who renewed Indian passport by mail at the San Francisco Indian Consulate.
My wife filled the application online and is ready to mail it, but there are questions regarding the supporting docs.
1)Proof of Residence:CGISF website shows applicable docs as Driving license or PG&E, Water or landline telephone bill displaying applicant�s address or
House Lease Agreement.
However in my wife's case, her name is not on any of the utility bills mentioned above and her Driving license has the old address.
Can we use the HUD-1 closing statement or home title as proof. Or can we use a insurance bill for this purpose? If not, please advise on other options.
2)Notarizing:I understand photo copies of any docs that I sent needs to be notarized.
Is there anything else that needs to be notarized?Your website says that "If applying by mail, Photocopy of all supporting documents including Photo should be notarized and attached to the application".

I got the paperwork from my attorney for my wife's 485 as they want us to be ready so that if dates are current, we just mail the paperwork without having to start at that time.
However, my wife is pregnant and i am not sure if medical examinations are possible. What are my options ?

The option you suggested is best I know but what if I can not do so. (Option of going to canada and then taking up new job on EAD)

I know one can do a re instatment of h1b as long as the h1b is VALID. For example if an applicant's h1b expires in SEP 2011 and he/she joins a co. on EAD today 10th April 2008 but then gets fired on April 15 2009 or his/her GC is denied for w/e reason then he/she can go file for reinstatment of h1b but will have to leave USA and get stamping of h1b from Canda/mexico/home country........
Any other options.........?

someone please explain me how complete agreement works. I am working for the client through the main vendor who has a noncompete agreement with my employer (This is signed by my employer, not me). Now I am planning to leave my employer but the client is interested keeping me in the project through another vendor. Can someone explain me if it is possible?
Since the Noncompete is between my employer and the vendor, how am I responsible since I didn't sign anything? Don't laugh, may be I am ignorant

I have a profile for online case status monitoring and because I attempted
logins with wrong password, I am locked out.
I get the following message:
Your password has been locked because of too many unsuccessful login attempts.Contact the USCIS Headquarters Referral Management Team for support.
Does anyone have the telephone number or email id of USCIS Headquarters Referral Management Team ? How do i reset the password by calling them. I forgot the answers to prompt questions too.
